Behind every image of African wildlife on social media, there is a story. Some stories put a spotlight on the tireless conservation efforts made to protect these animals, while others show a dark side, especially when it comes to unethical and misleading tourist activities.

Welcome to Slovenia. This small country (the size of New Jersey) sits between Italy, Austria, and Croatia, and as you’ll see, is one of Europe’s raddest places to travel. We gave ourselves a week. Starting off in Lake Bled, we swam in one of the most postcard looking lakes you’ve ever seen before heading off to sail in the Adriatic. From here we explored the Soča Valley — a region with turquoise blue rivers and limitless adventure options. Farm to table food and family-run wineries are a way of life in Slovenia, and we were stoked to spend time with world-famous chef Ana RoŠ from HiŠa Franko restaurant as well as Aleš Kristančič, the storied winemaker of Movia vineyards. Don’t overlook this country when thinking of your next travels to Europe.

This is the remarkable story of Jacob Mayiani, a Maasai man living in the US who returns to Kenya for the final ceremony completing his warriorhood —a ceremony that only happens once every 30 years.
As filmmakers Blaze Nowara and Josh Morin explain, capturing the story was stepping into the unknown. The tribal elders would decide exactly when and where the ceremony would take place, decisions that could change at any time. ʼWe didn’t even know the day or location of the ceremony before we left. ʽ
Churchill Wild’s Seal River Heritage Lodge in Northern Manitoba is a basecamp like no other.
Excursions across the tidal flats put you right in polar bears’ summer habitat, or you can boat into Hudson Bay and literally be surrounded by beluga whales. During summer in Churchill, there is also an explosion of color across the landscape as dozens of wildflower species come into bloom. And beyond the bears and belugas, hundreds of bird species, as well as moose and Arctic fox, pass through the area.
The guides here help you appreciate how special Churchill’s animals are, and how complex and delicate of an ecosystem they inhabit on the tundra.
