Wildlife lovers around the world have chosen a New Big 5 of Wildlife Photography - www.newbig5.com The ‘Big 5’ is an old term used by trophy hunters in Africa for the five most prized and dangerous animals to shoot and kill: elephant, rhino, leopard, Cape buffalo and lion. The New Big 5 project has a better idea: to create a New Big 5 of Wildlife Photography, rather than hunting. Shooting with a camera, not a gun. More than 250 of the world’s wildlife photographers, conservationists and wildlife charities have come together to support this international initiative, including Jane Goodall, Save The Elephants, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Conservation International, Ewaso Lions, Polar Bears International, The Ellen Fund, Wildlife Direct, IFAW, Orangutan Foundation, Save The Rhino International, WildAid, IUCN, Wildlife Trust Of India, Save Pangolins… This includes a diverse group of more than 120 renowned, global photographers from Kenya, Japan, Peru, USA, Lebanon, France, India, Rwanda, UK, Australia…, including Marsel van Oosten, Ami Vitale, Paul Nicklen, Gurcharan Roopra, Jen Guyton, Brent Stirton, Art Wolfe, Clement Kiragu, Marina Cano, Shaaz Jung, Nick Brandt, Suzi Eszterhas, Clement Kiragu, Joel Sartore, Xi Zhinong, Jasper Doest, Rathika Ramasamy, Jo-Anne McArthur, Shogo Asao, David Lloyd and Melissa Groo, as well as actors, musicians and famous wildlife supporters, including Djimon Hounsou, Chris Packham, Eugenio Derbez, Levison Wood, Carla Morrison and Joanna Lumley. Created by British photographer Graeme Green, the project’s aim is to raise awareness about the crisis facing the world’s wildlife from threats including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, illegal wildlife trade and climate change. Thousands of wildlife lovers around the world voted for their 5 favourite animals to photograph and see in photos. The results of the year-long global vote are now in. But unlike those past mass extinctions, the current crisis is almost entirely caused by us: humans. The New Big 5 consists of some of the most iconic animals on our planet. They’re a stark reminder of what’s at stake if we don’t change our ways. That’s how I will look at each of them, as beautiful representatives of the many thousands of other, often lesser-known species who desperately need our help.” All 5 animals are keystone species, essential to the balance of nature in their habitats, biodiverse ecosystems and the survival of other species. Andree Köthe and Yves Ollech are pioneers in the field and run the “Essigbrätlein” restaurant. For over 20 years, they have been preparing vegetable dishes there – long before vegetables became a megatrend. The airline experience might never be the same.
Move over Boeing 747 and Airbus A380. Goodbye, MD-80 and 757. As airlines speed up retirement of these long-running plane models (with a push from the COVID-19 pandemic), they’re making way for a new generation of jetliners to take center stage.
“Airlines will look at the world in a different light as the recovery develops,” says John Grant, London-based senior analyst at OAG, an airline research and publishing firm. “Network structures will change, and older aging aircraft types such as the 747 and A380 are vulnerable.” On the positive side, the latest machines can take us farther, faster, and move us in greater comfort than ever before, he says. They’ll also burn less fuel—a requirement of travel for more and more passengers.
That fits with changing travel patterns, says Richard Aboulafia, vice president of analysis at Teal Group, an aviation consultancy. “The pandemic is accelerating a pre-existing shift to point-to-point travel” with smaller planes connecting mid-sized cities, he says. '[The world] doesn’t need a 520-seat monster that forced people to change planes in Frankfurt or Narita,” he says.

Saied Hussain has been hand making tiles out of cement for over 50 years. He says he’s one of the last still doing this work in Egypt — most other workshops couldn't withstand competition from marble and ceramic tiles.
